The Lincoln Bicentennial Bike Tour is produced by Prairie Compass, Inc., with Todd Volker as Tour Director. The idea for the Lincoln Bicentennial Bike Tour came from Todd Volker and Ed Barsotti, director of the League of Illinois Bicyclists.

As originally conceived, the Tour would be a joint production of the League of Illinois Bicyclists and the Indiana Bicycle Coalition. However, the organizations moved their priorities to other subjects, with Mr. Volker deciding to continue the project, organized as a for-profit venture.

The Lincoln Bicentennial Bike Tour has received valuable support and encouragement in its development by the League of Illinois Bicyclists, the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, the Illinois Humanities Council, the Illinois Arts Council, Vincennes University, the National Park Service sites, the Indiana Bicycle Coalition and the Louisville (KY) Bike Club. It is endorsed by the national Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, the Illinois Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission and the Kentucky Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commssion.
